Bratislava, June 15, 2026 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Partnership, marking a significant milestone in India-Slovakia ties.
Prime Minister Modi received a ceremonial welcome at the historic Bratislava Castle before holding both one-on-one and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Fico.
India Slovakia Comprehensive Partnership Expands Cooperation
The two leaders reviewed cooperation across several sectors, including trade, investment, defence, security, renewable energy, civil nuclear cooperation, digital innovation, culture, education, and talent mobility.
Moreover, both sides explored future collaboration in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, supercomputing, and advanced digital systems.
The leaders described the new partnership as a reflection of the strong friendship and shared democratic values between the two countries.
Agreements Signed Across Multiple Sectors
The India Slovakia Comprehensive Partnership produced several key agreements.
Both countries exchanged Memorandums of Understanding covering:
- Digital Technologies
- Labour Migration
- Higher Education and Research
- Audio-Visual Cooperation
In addition, both sides exchanged a Letter of Intent to strengthen defence cooperation.
India also announced the establishment of the first-ever Chair in Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Kosice.
Counter-Terrorism and Global Issues Discussed
Prime Minister Modi thanked Slovakia for its support following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all forms and strengthening international cooperation on security issues.
Furthermore, they exchanged views on regional and global developments and supported reforms of global governance institutions.
Support for India-EU Cooperation
Both leaders welcomed the outcomes of the recent India-European Union Summit.
They expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and the adoption of the Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda.
According to both sides, these developments will strengthen economic cooperation and expand opportunities for businesses and investors.

The India Slovakia Comprehensive Partnership is expected to create new opportunities in technology, defence, education, innovation, and trade.
