Ahmedabad, Gujarat, June 16, 2026:
Ahmedabad is set to significantly strengthen its firefighting capabilities with the procurement of a 104-metre hydraulic fire crane, the tallest fire response vehicle ever introduced in the city.
The initiative, approved by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), is aimed at enhancing emergency response for high-rise buildings as urban development and vertical construction continue to expand across the city.
Ahmedabad to Deploy Tallest-Ever Fire Crane
The new 104-Metre Fire Crane Ahmedabad project marks a major leap in firefighting infrastructure.
Currently, Ahmedabad’s fire department operates cranes capable of reaching heights between 50 and 80 metres. The addition of a 104-metre hydraulic crane will substantially improve the city’s ability to tackle emergencies in skyscrapers and high-rise residential and commercial complexes.
Officials say the equipment will help firefighters reach upper floors more efficiently during rescue and firefighting operations.
Boost for High-Rise Fire Safety
With the rapid growth of tall buildings in Ahmedabad, authorities have been focusing on modernizing emergency services to keep pace with urban expansion.
The new crane is expected to:
- Improve firefighting capabilities in high-rise structures
- Enhance rescue operations during emergencies
- Reduce response challenges in tall buildings
- Strengthen urban disaster management preparedness
Experts note that advanced aerial firefighting equipment is becoming increasingly important for rapidly growing metropolitan cities.
AMC Revises Fire Service Charges
Alongside the procurement of the crane, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also revised charges for fire service deployments outside city limits.
Officials stated that this is the first revision in outstation firefighting service charges since 2011.
The updated fee structure is intended to better reflect operational costs and ensure the sustainability of emergency response services.
Strengthening Urban Emergency Infrastructure
The acquisition of the 104-Metre Fire Crane Ahmedabad reflects broader efforts to modernize civic infrastructure and improve public safety.
As Ahmedabad continues to expand as one of India’s fastest-growing urban centres, investments in emergency response systems, disaster preparedness, and public safety infrastructure are expected to play an increasingly important role.
The new fire crane is expected to become a critical asset in protecting residents, businesses, and high-rise developments across the city.
