New Delhi, June 15, 2026 — Noida International Airport marked a major milestone on Monday as it welcomed its first commercial flights. The launch also created an emotional moment for local communities. Farmers who gave land for the project became some of the airport’s first passengers.
IndiGo flight 6E-2278 landed at the airport and received a traditional water cannon salute. Soon after, the airport handled its first commercial departure to Lucknow.
Meanwhile, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu flagged off the inaugural flight. The event attracted officials, airport staff, and residents from the Jewar region.
Farmers Become First Flyers
Around 172 farmers and villagers joined the historic journey. Many of them had contributed land for the airport’s development. For several passengers, the trip marked their first experience on an aircraft.
