The Union Cabinet has approved a series of major highway projects across Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha. Together, these projects aim to improve connectivity, strengthen logistics networks and support economic growth.

The approvals came from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Telangana Gets Key Highway Expansion

The Cabinet approved the widening of the Armoor–Jagtial–Mancherial section of National Highway 63 and the Jagtial–Karimnagar section of National Highway 563.

The project will improve road connectivity in northern Telangana and support faster movement of passengers and freight vehicles.

Furthermore, the upgraded highways will strengthen links between industrial, agricultural and commercial regions.

Madhya Pradesh Road Network to Improve

The government also approved the upgradation of the Hiwarkhedi–Roshni–Ashapur–Rudhy section of National Highway 347B.

The 125-kilometre corridor will be upgraded from an intermediate lane to a two-lane highway with paved shoulders.

As a result, road safety will improve while travel times and transportation costs are expected to decrease.

Bihar Receives ₹3,936 Crore Highway Project

In Bihar, the Cabinet approved the four-laning of the Khagaria–Purnea section of NH-31 and NH-231.

The 143.5-kilometre project carries an estimated cost of ₹3,936 crore.

Importantly, the corridor will improve connectivity across eastern Bihar and support trade, agriculture and industrial activities.

Additionally, the project will enhance access to key districts and reduce congestion on existing routes.

Odisha Coastal Highway Gets Green Signal

The Cabinet also approved the construction of a new coastal highway connecting Rameshwar and Paradeep in Odisha.

The project involves two highway packages covering nearly 160 kilometres and requires an investment of ₹8,300 crore.

Once completed, the corridor will reduce travel time, improve port connectivity and strengthen tourism and logistics across Odisha’s coastal districts.

Boost for Infrastructure and Logistics

These projects align with the government’s PM GatiShakti vision for integrated infrastructure development.

Moreover, the new highways will connect economic hubs, industrial centres, ports and logistics nodes across multiple states.

Officials expect the projects to create employment opportunities during construction and improve long-term economic activity.

Focus on Faster Growth

The latest approvals highlight the government’s continued focus on transportation infrastructure.

Better highways can reduce logistics costs, improve supply chains and support regional development.

As construction begins, these projects are expected to play a key role in strengthening connectivity and boosting economic growth across India.
