The sacred Srivari Laddu, the world-famous prasadam of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, achieved a historic milestone in May 2026. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) recorded its highest-ever monthly Laddu sales, reflecting the growing number of devotees visiting the holy shrine.
Record-Breaking Laddu Sales
TTD sold an impressive 1,21,35,528 Laddus during May 2026. The figure surpassed the previous records of around 1.01 crore Laddus in May 2024 and 1.10 crore in May 2025.
The achievement highlights the increasing popularity of the sacred prasadam among devotees from across India and around the world.
Production Increased to Meet Demand
To handle rising demand, TTD significantly expanded Laddu production capacity.
The temple administration now prepares more than four lakh Laddus every day. Advanced machinery and digital systems have helped improve efficiency while maintaining traditional standards.
Furthermore, TTD has ensured uninterrupted supply during peak pilgrimage seasons and special festivals.
Massive Daily Consumption of Ingredients
TTD uses nearly 68 tonnes of raw materials every day for Laddu preparation.
The daily consumption includes:
- Sugar – 32 tonnes
- Gram Flour – 16 tonnes
- Ghee – 16 tonnes
- Cashew Nuts – 3.5 tonnes
- Raisins – 2 tonnes
- Cardamom – 400 kg
- Kalkand (Sugar Candy) – 800 kg
Each regular Laddu contains carefully measured ingredients according to prescribed temple standards.
Technology Enhances Quality Control
TTD has adopted modern technology to improve quality and transparency.
Two AI-based colour sorting machines help identify impurities in raw materials before use. Additionally, all ingredients undergo laboratory testing before entering the production process.
Digital payment-enabled kiosks have also simplified additional Laddu purchases for devotees.
GI Tag and Traditional Standards
The famous Tirupati Laddu enjoys Geographical Indication (GI) status, recognizing its unique identity and heritage.
TTD also holds a valid FSSAI license for Laddu preparation and distribution.
Moreover, the temple strictly follows the traditional “Dittam” standards, which define the exact ingredients and proportions used in preparing sacred offerings. These standards have remained in force since their approval in 1950-51.
Around-the-Clock Operations
The sacred Potu, the main temple kitchen, operates continuously to meet demand.
Around 700 Sri Vaishnava Brahmins work in shifts to prepare Laddus and other temple offerings.
TTD also maintains extensive infrastructure, including large storage facilities, flour mills and gas plants to support uninterrupted production.
56 Counters and Digital Kiosks
Devotees can purchase Laddus through 56 counters operating round the clock in three shifts.
Additionally, digital kiosks have improved convenience and reduced waiting times for pilgrims.
TTD also maintains a buffer stock of 8 to 10 lakh Laddus during major festivals and peak seasons.
A Symbol of Faith and Devotion
For millions of devotees, receiving the sacred Srivari Laddu remains an essential part of the Tirumala pilgrimage.
The prasadam continues to symbolize devotion, tradition and the spiritual grandeur of Lord Venkateswara’s temple.
With record sales, advanced technology and unwavering commitment to quality, the sacred Laddu remains one of India’s most revered religious offerings.
