Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has officially announced the allocation of portfolios for his newly formed Cabinet, marking a major administrative step after the formation of the new government.
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet portfolios include several important departments distributed among senior ministers, while Chief Minister Vijay retained crucial ministries including Home, Police and Municipal Administration.
CM Vijay Retains Key Departments
Under the newly announced Tamil Nadu Cabinet portfolios, Chief Minister Vijay will directly handle several major departments including Public Administration, Home, Police, Municipal Administration and Urban Water Supply.
He will also oversee Indian Administrative Service matters, Indian Police Service affairs, Women Welfare, Youth Welfare and welfare programmes for children, senior citizens and differently-abled persons.
Political observers say retaining these major departments reflects Vijay’s intention to closely monitor governance and administration during the initial phase of his government.
Major Ministries Allocated To Senior Leaders
Senior leader N. Anand has been assigned Rural Development and Water Resources departments. His responsibilities include panchayats, poverty alleviation programmes and irrigation projects.
Aadhav Arjuna has been appointed Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, handling highways, ports and sports-related infrastructure.
Dr. K.G. Arunraj will oversee the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare department, one of the most closely watched ministries in the new government.
K.A. Sengottaiyan has been given charge of the Finance department, including pensions and financial administration.
Education, Energy And Industries Portfolios Finalised
Under the Tamil Nadu Cabinet portfolios, P. Venkataramanan will manage Food and Civil Supplies along with Consumer Protection.
R. Nirmalkumar has been assigned Energy Resources and Law departments, including Electricity, Courts, Legislative Assembly affairs and anti-corruption administration.
Rajmohan will head School Education, Tamil Development and Information & Publicity. His ministry also includes Film Technology and Government Press administration.
Dr. T.K. Prabhu has been appointed Minister for Natural Resources, while Selvi S. Keerthana will handle Industries and Investment Promotion.
