Tamil Nadu Crop Loan Waiver Covers Cooperative Bank Loans

Under the Tamil Nadu Crop Loan Waiver, eligible farmers with outstanding crop loans of up to ₹75,000 from cooperative banking institutions will receive full loan relief.

Officials said the measure aims to improve financial stability among farming households while ensuring continued agricultural activity across the state.

The government believes the scheme will help farmers manage financial pressures and invest more confidently in future cultivation.

14.43 Lakh Farmers Expected to Benefit

According to official estimates, nearly 14.43 lakh farmers are expected to benefit from the Tamil Nadu Crop Loan Waiver.

The large-scale initiative is designed to provide direct assistance to small and marginal farmers who depend on cooperative credit systems for agricultural operations.

Agriculture remains a key contributor to Tamil Nadu’s rural economy, and the government views the waiver as a significant support measure for the farming community.

Government Allocates ₹5,932 Crore for Loan Waiver

Officials stated that the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Crop Loan Waiver will involve an additional expenditure of approximately ₹5,932 crore.

Relief Expected to Boost Agricultural Activity

Industry experts believe the Tamil Nadu Crop Loan Waiver could improve liquidity among farmers and support agricultural productivity across the state.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen rural purchasing power and provide financial relief to thousands of farming families.

The announcement has been welcomed by sections of the agricultural community, with many viewing it as a major step toward improving farmer welfare and rural economic stability.
