Vijayabaskar May Contest Independently from Virudhunagar as TVK Talks Remain Uncertain

Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar may contest independently from Virudhunagar if talks regarding a possible move to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) do not progress, according to sources.

The former AIADMK leader has remained at the centre of political speculation since his resignation from the party and the Assembly. While several reports have linked him with TVK, neither side has made an official announcement.

Political Future Yet to Be Decided

Sources say Vijayabaskar is consulting supporters before making a final decision on his political future. He has repeatedly stated that he will take the next step only after hearing the views of party workers, supporters and well-wishers. As discussions continue, uncertainty remains over whether he will join TVK or choose an independent political path.

Virudhunagar Emerges as Key Option

Political sources indicate that Virudhunagar has emerged as one of the options being considered by Vijayabaskar. An independent contest from the district could attract attention across Tamil Nadu. It could also influence local political equations and voter alignments in southern districts. Observers believe his strong network among supporters could make him a significant factor in the region.

AIADMK Exit Continues to Draw Attention

Vijayabaskar’s exit from the AIADMK was one of the party’s most notable departures in recent months. He served as Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister and represented Viralimalai constituency for multiple terms. During his time in the party, he emerged as one of its prominent leaders in central Tamil Nadu. His resignation triggered speculation about his next political destination and future role in state politics.

TVK Move Still Unclear

Although reports continue to link Vijayabaskar with TVK, there has been no official confirmation so far. Political analysts say his entry into TVK could strengthen the party’s presence in some regions. However, an independent contest could create a new political dynamic ahead of future elections.

For now, Vijayabaskar has remained silent on his final decision. Political circles expect greater clarity in the coming weeks as consultations with supporters continue.
