Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday led the state in paying tributes to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, on his birth anniversary. As part of the celebrations, he also inaugurated S.M. Krishna Road at the newly developed Kempegowda Layout in Bengaluru.
The state government organised a grand celebration to honour Kempegowda’s contribution to the development of Bengaluru. Ministers, legislators, officials and members of the public took part in the event.
CM Shivakumar Pays Tribute
Chief Minister Shivakumar offered floral tributes to the 108-foot statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda and praised his vision for building Bengaluru.
He said Kempegowda’s planning and leadership laid the foundation for one of India’s fastest-growing cities. He urged people to remember and celebrate the legacy of the city’s founder.
S.M. Krishna Road Inaugurated
During the celebrations, the Chief Minister inaugurated S.M. Krishna Road, named after former Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna.
Shivakumar said the road honours S.M. Krishna’s contribution to Bengaluru’s growth and infrastructure development. The inauguration formed part of the Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations.
Grand Kempegowda Jayanti Celebrations
The Karnataka government celebrated Kempegowda Jayanti with several programmes across the state.
The celebrations included cultural events, public gatherings and plantation drives. The government also announced grants for celebrations in all Assembly constituencies and Greater Bengaluru Authority wards.
Honouring Bengaluru’s Founder
Nadaprabhu Kempegowda is widely recognised as the founder of Bengaluru. His contribution to city planning, governance and development continues to inspire Karnataka.
State leaders said his vision remains relevant as Bengaluru continues to grow as a global technology and innovation hub.
