Kota: Nearly 4 lakh students have not yet applied for their NEET UG 2026 fee refund, even after the National Testing Agency (NTA) extended the deadline three times.
According to official data, around 3.80 lakh candidates have still not updated or confirmed their bank account details. Because of this, refund claims worth more than ₹50 crore remain pending.
The NTA cancelled the original NEET UG 2026 exam after the paper leak controversy. It later announced that all registration fees would be refunded and conducted a fresh exam at its own cost.
A total of 22.79 lakh students registered for the exam, generating over ₹300 crore in registration fees. So far, about 19 lakh candidates have updated their bank details to receive the refund.
Education expert Dev Sharma said many students who had earlier selected the “no refund” option are now trying to claim the money. He said the NTA has given candidates one final chance to update their bank details before the June 30 deadline.
The registration fee was ₹1,700 for General category students, ₹1,600 for EWS and OBC candidates, and ₹1,000 for SC and ST candidates.
Meanwhile, the objection window for the provisional answer key of the June 21 NEET UG re-exam has closed. The NTA is now reviewing objections before preparing the final answer key.
Experts expect the NEET UG 2026 results to be announced in the first week of July. The early declaration will help authorities begin medical college counselling without delay.
