Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar took a Bengaluru Metro ride on Sunday, choosing public transport over a road convoy to avoid traffic congestion in the city.

The Shivakumar Bengaluru Metro Ride came just four days after he assumed office as Karnataka’s 25th Chief Minister. He travelled on the Purple Line from Vidhana Soudha to Central Silk Board, completing the journey in about 45 to 50 minutes.

Shivakumar Travels with Commuters

Dressed in a white kurta, Shivakumar travelled alongside regular passengers without seeking special arrangements.

During the journey, he interacted with commuters, posed for selfies and even handed betel leaves to a family travelling on the Metro. His simple approach attracted attention from fellow passengers throughout the ride.

Bengaluru Metro Ride Highlights Public Transport

Shivakumar said the journey served as a reminder of the importance of reliable public transport in a growing city like Bengaluru.

He stressed that improving public transportation remains essential to reducing congestion and making daily travel easier for residents. Furthermore, he reiterated his commitment to creating a more accessible and commuter-friendly Karnataka.

Public Reaction to Shivakumar Bengaluru Metro Ride

Many supporters praised the Chief Minister for using public transport and engaging directly with citizens.

Meanwhile, some observers questioned whether the Metro ride would become a regular practice or remain a symbolic gesture. Despite the debate, the journey generated significant attention across social media platforms.

Focus on Bengaluru’s Traffic Challenges

Bengaluru continues to face severe traffic congestion due to rapid urban growth and increasing vehicle numbers.

Therefore, investments in Metro expansion and public transport infrastructure remain a major priority for the state government. Officials believe improved connectivity can help ease travel challenges across the city.
