The DK Shivakumar Meta glasses sting allegation has added a new twist to Karnataka politics, with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar claiming that an industrialist attempted a sting operation on him and Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan using Meta smart glasses.
Shivakumar made the claim in an interview with Kannada broadcaster Asianet Suvarna News. He said the industrialist took an appointment through officials and began with business talk, but later shifted to booth-level political strategy, which raised his suspicion.
He said he asked officials to run a background check on the visitor. According to the information he received, the industrialist wore the glasses only while meeting him and Satheesan, and not during meetings with other political leaders.
Shivakumar also questioned why Congress leaders were being targeted while chief ministers from the BJP and its NDA allies were not.
The allegation comes amid an ongoing row over purported sting videos linked to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy has accused Shivakumar of orchestrating that operation, a charge Shivakumar has denied.
Shivakumar has not named the industrialist or shown evidence that any recording was made. The claims remain allegations, and independent confirmation is needed to establish what actually happened.
